The Shamanic Journey is an ancient and time-tested method that shamans around the world have used to develop a deep relationship with the powers of the Earth and Cosmos. Deity Meditation is a form of meditation that brings the meditator into an intimate understanding of the fields of power that the deities in the Tibetan Buddhist pantheon hold. In this talk, Isa Gucciardi, Ph.D., will explore the similarities and differences between these two methodologies, providing a glimpse into the power that both contain. She will also offer insight into how the intersection of these two practices provides a dynamic model of self-transformation for the modern spiritual seeker. This talk is a prelude to the retreat she is co-teaching with Robert Thurman (October 7-10), Shamans and Siddhas: Meeting at the Crossroads of Shamanism & Tantrism. This will be held at Menla Center for Health and Happiness.
Isa Gucciardi, Ph.D. is the Founding Director of the Foundation of the Sacred Stream, a school for consciousness studies in Berkeley, CA. Isa is also the creator of the spiritual counseling model, Depth Hypnosis, and author of two books, Coming to Peace and Return to the Great Mother. In addition to her teaching schedule that includes teaching classes in Applied Buddhist Psychology, Applied Shamanism, Integrated Energy Medicine and Depth Hypnosis, she has active practices in Depth Hypnosis and Applied Shamanic Counseling in San Francisco, CA.
