Art & Spirit

Art & Spirit

“Art is not documentary. It may incidentally serve that function in its own way, but its true effort is to open to us dimensions of the spirit and of the self that normally are smothered under the weight of living.” – Jeanette Winterson

What is art? In some cultures there is no word for art, though those cultures are rich with elements we have come to think of as art – music, dance, painting, pottery. In our contemporary culture, we view art and the artist as something that can only be achieved by a few, rather than something inherent within us all. In this workshop, students will explore their relationship to “art” and the deeper aspects of what drives them to create. They will also be given tools to address any blocks they have to living an artful life. This workshop is for professionals and non-professionals interested in healing their relationship to art, deepening the connection to their work, or expanding their ability to manifest their creative vision.
